Media Frenzy
The media team (yours truly) has been on the gas lately. This entry serves as a summary of what’s been happening in recent weeks.
While the days were still respectably long and the nights were not yet frigid, I set off to capture the VTXL FKT back in early September. A professional video — as in, not my vlog style — can be seen here:
A few weeks after that, I was off to Portugal for a really fun birthday celebration, but I preceded those festivities for a period of sleeping along the side of the road on a 4 day bikepacking adventure across the Rota Norte. That vloggy-vlog can be seen here:
As if 300 and 500 mile rides weren’t enough, I thought it would be wise to take part in the first ever grand depart of the Megahopper. Specifically, a 414 mile ride all around the heartbeat of the Grasshopper Adventure Series rides of northern California.
Since speed was a priority on this li’l venture, I didn’t shoot a video there, but almost immediately afterwards I did catch up with my very good friend Miguel Crawford, founder of the G.A.S. all the way back in the mid-1990s. Yeah, gravel before there was gravel! We talked shop, the history of his events, the Megahopper itself, and lots more. Furthermore, Miguel was my first ever podcast guest 165 episodes ago, so that was a really neat way to pull him back onto the show.
You can catch that episode here or here:
That’s the general gist of what’s up lately. I’m off to the CircumVictory mountain bike race this Saturday, which will wrap up the 2025 season. Wild to think of all the places the bike has taken me this year… let alone the past twenty!
