A Week of Fine Weather

It’s hard not to talk about the weather when I’m experiencing such dramatic contrasts. It’s 2 degrees today here at 1pm on Saturday February 7. Furthermore, the temperature was the warmest of the entire day 13 hours ago, at midnight, so it’s just been falling all day and into tonight. It doesn’t usually snow when it’s this cold, but it’s been snowing all day too. Needless to say, or maybe it isn’t, my ride today was indoors. I banged out 90 minutes with exactly half of the ride at a good hard tempo, targeting 360-370w.

Meanwhile, last week at this time, I was basked in a southern California heatwave. The rumor was the 92 degree high was record heat for January 31 and I’m not here to present any argument to that. It was mighty toasty as I took in the LA Tourist Race, a one of a kind scavenger hunt style race all across the San Gabriel Mountains north of Los Angeles.

This is a little bit out of the blue, but I want to extend the offer for you. If you’re keen on getting your hands on a handy discount for ASSOS, give the code TDKI15OFF-2026 a shot. It’s head and shoulders above even the second best kit I’ve ever tried. The stuff is jaw droppingly good, so give it a try. I basked in it all last week in CA, and love their cold weather gear here at home in Vermont.

That capped off an incredible week in California, which wasn’t intentionally dodging arctic cold, but definitely was the for the purpose of logging solid miles. I could wax on about it, but I’d rather direct you to the video I created. Check it out here:
